TV drama Nominee Barney Davis ACO and Julia Green ACO for The Girlfriend
Barney Davis ACO:
"The Girlfriend was fantastic to work on. It’s always lovely working with Mattias Nyberg, and as he does a huge amount of prep, when we came to discuss some of the more complicated sequences it was easy to work out the best approach to getting the right results, which made for a very collaborative and fun shoot.
Absolutely amazed to be nominated, it was a total pleasure working with Mattias, Paul Morris, Julia Green, our great camera crew and our excellent Grips, Rogan Brown and Dean Marshall. I feel very lucky to have been involved with such a lovely shoot."
Julia:
"I thoroughly enjoyed my time on The Girlfriend, it was the first time I'd met both Mattias Nyberg BSC (DOP), and Barney Davis (A camera operator), and they both turned out to be lovely people, and a joy to work with, as were my long suffering B camera team (Piotrek Perlinski, Maria Camilla Piana Brizio, Sara Hassan, Dean Marshall). Mattias and Robin Wright (director/actress) had a specific way they wanted to tell the story, to differentiate whether we were telling the story from Robin's character (the Mum), or Olivia Cooke's character (the Girlfriend), which added another dimension and interest for us camera operators. And the icing on the cake was our two week stint at the end of the block, filming in beautiful locations around Marbella. My local Spanish team were brilliant (Ana Cubillo, Sandra Pascual, Ana Oliva, Rayco Diaz). I am absolutely honoured to be included in this year's nominations, as I thought the standard of film making was incredibly high."
