Chris:
"It was refreshing to do a stripped down, “traditional” approach to shooting. We were primarily single camera, shooting on 35mm film/eyepiece, dolly/track, handheld on the shoulder, steadicam for stabilization. Very little extra camera accessories or support.
Working with artists like director Lynne Ramsay & cinematographer Seamus McGarvey BSC ASC, they have a clear specific vision and expectation for what they are looking for in the shot, but at the same time are collaborative and confident to allow the operator to explore & discover within the frame. They brought a very positive and open atmosphere to set.
With world class actors like Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattison, they are so camera savvy and technically aware it really makes the operator’s job easy as all your effort is just on capturing performance. Being a collaborative medium, any operating accolades is the result of a team effort from the focus puller, to onset dresser, to dolly grip. "
